BLOOMINGDALE
NEIGHBORHOOD
HISTORY GROUP
Our Mission: We aim to discover, explore, preserve, and share the history of our neighborhood.
What We Do: We promote research and education about the history of the Bloomingdale neighborhood, and we are available as a resource. We share our findings through free public programs, walking tours, workshops, publications, a blog, our website, and a Neighborhood History Collection of materials housed at the Bloomingdale Branch of the New York Public Library.
What You Can Do: Join in the discovery! If you are curious about something of local historical interest or if you have knowledge or experience of a neighborhood matter, get in touch to see how you can contribute. If you have materials that might add to the appreciation of our local history and wish to donate to the library collection, let us hear from you. Contact us here
Bloomingdale: Manhattan’s Upper West Side Neighborhood between West 96th and West 110th Streets and Central Park to the Hudson River and nearby areas. The name derives from the Dutch town of Bloemendaal, "valley of the flowers."
